Setting tab space on linux machines

The .vimrc file on the root directory can be created/edited to set the tab spacing. Here’s a sample .vimrc file with tab stop set to 4.

#!/bin/bash
set tabstop=4

To set a temporary tab space during a vi session, you can use the above command inside the vim editor

:set tabstop=2
