Modify default vi editor on a Linux box

Navigate to /etc/alternatives and do a listing to look for ‘editor’. The default editor that I prefer is vim.tiny. If it’s pointing to something else – modify the link.

cd /etc/alternatives
rm editor
#Search the location for the vim.tiny and create a symlink 'editor' under alternatives pointing to your preferred editor
ln -s /usr/bin/vim.tiny editor
